Pest Minds Charter

Improving Mental Health and Wellbeing Across the Pest Management Industry.

The Pest Minds Charter has been created to support better mental health and wellbeing across the pest management industry.

Pest control can be demanding, isolating, and at times high-pressure work. Long hours, lone working, and the nature of the job itself can all take their toll. Despite this, mental health has not always been openly recognised or supported within the industry.

The Charter exists to change that.

It is not about how pest control services are delivered.
It is about how the people delivering them are supported.

The Pest Minds Charter is built on the belief that:

  • Mental health is everyone’s responsibility
  • The pest control industry presents unique psychological pressures
  • Support must be practical, relevant, and realistic
  • Continuous improvement is more valuable than box‑ticking

Businesses can sign up to the Charter, commit to its principles, and submit annual self-assessments to track progress.

Two Ways to Be Involved

Signatory (Free)

Becoming a Signatory is a clear and public commitment to supporting mental health and wellbeing within your business.

It shows that you recognise the challenges people in this industry face and that you are willing to be part of improving how those challenges are addressed.

As a Signatory, you will:

  • Be recognised on the Pest Minds platform
  • Use the official “Signatory” branding
  • Stand alongside others committed to creating a healthier, more supportive industry

For many businesses, this is where the conversation begins.

Verified Status (Annual Fee)

Verified status is for businesses that want to go further—moving beyond intent and demonstrating how they are actively supporting wellbeing in their workplace.

The verification process looks at the practical steps your business is taking to support mental health. This may include areas such as workload management, communication, awareness, and access to support.

It is not a pass-or-fail audit. It is a structured and supportive review, designed to recognise what is working well and highlight opportunities to improve.

Verified businesses receive:

  • Official “Verified” status and branding
  • Increased visibility through the Pest Minds platform
  • Independent recognition of their commitment to employee wellbeing
  • A structured feedback report to support ongoing improvement
  • A stronger position as an employer that values and supports its people

This is about showing that wellbeing is not just acknowledged—but acted upon.

A Proportionate Approach

The realities of running a sole trader business are very different from those of a large organisation. The Charter reflects this by keeping the process practical and proportionate.

  • Smaller businesses follow a straightforward, manageable process
  • Larger organisations undertake a more detailed review, reflecting their scale

In every case, the focus remains the same: meaningful support for the people behind the work.

Verified Status – Annual Investment

To ensure the Charter remains accessible while supporting a consistent and credible process, fees are structured according to business size:

Business SizeTypical StructureAnnual Fee (net)
Sole Trader1–2 people£75
Small Business3–10 employees£150
Medium Business11–50 employees£400
Large Business50+ employees / multi-branchFrom £850

Final pricing for larger organisations reflects the scope of the review process.

Why It Matters

Behind every pest management business are people doing a difficult and often overlooked job.

Improving the industry means improving how those people are supported.

The Pest Minds Charter gives businesses a way to show they are taking that responsibility seriously.

  • Signatories make a commitment
  • Verified businesses demonstrate how they are following it through

Because a healthier industry starts with healthier people.
