The role of a pest professional can often be an isolating role which can have a negative impact on a persons mental health and wellbeing.
To try and combat this sense of isolation, Pest Minds Connections has been created to offer anonymous and direct peer to peer communication.
How does Connections work?
If you want to become a Pest Minds Connector then please fill in the Volunteer application form.
If you are looking to make a connection with a volunteer then please fill in the Connect application form.
Pest Mind Connector (Volunteer)
What is a Pest Minds Connector? Well very simply you are volunteering a bit of your time to to talk to another pest professional who is seeking communication.
You don’t need any qualifications or training, just a willingness to chat with another person. On signing up you can decide how many connections you are comfortable with, only 1, a couple, many, it’s up to you.
You will need to abide with our guidelines, understanding that you are not providing counselling or therapy.
All Pest Mind Connectors will need to open an account with Discord, the free private server chat platform. If you already have an account then we still recommend creating another one to retain your anonymity.
Then sit back and wait. If a connection request comes through that meets with your preferences, a Pest Minds Admin will set you up on a private server with that person and from there you can chat away.
Chat servers are lightly moderated to ensure both parties are safe. If you feel uncomfortable at any time, just flag this with our administrators.
Requesting A Connection
If you are a pest professional who wants to chat with another peer anonymously then request a connection.
A Pest Minds admin will connect you with a volunteer relative to your preferences. You will need to create an account on Discord, the free private server chat platform. If you already have an account then we still recommend creating another one to retain your anonymity.
You will be invited by the Pest Minds admin to a private server with a Pest Minds Connector and then you can chat away anonymously.
Some connections are just to have someone who listens, others are for a regular check in, perhaps you just want idle chatter with someone who understands rats, roaches and all things pest. Just understand that the Pest Mind Connectors are not therapists, or medical professionals and be sure to follow our guidelines for the sake of safety and kindness.
You don’t have to feel alone in our industry.
